1. FBLA, Future Business Leader of America. Forkner developed the idea of the FBLA in 1937 while serving at the head of the teachers college in Colombia University. This organization  prepared students for a transition into the field of business. This three year program allowed it's students to receive on the job training during their senior year of high school. Students interned at local business. This organization high school teachers were Mrs.Ena Miller and Mrs.Enola Foy. Their colors were Blue and Gold.  
 

2. The Health Occupation was a 2 year program that started in the 11th grade. These classes prepared it's students for work within the health care profession. Some classes done at the local hospital were called clinicals. This also allowed students to help assist the hospital patients in basis assistance of daily living. All students worked along with the nurses taking vital signs and monitoring patients recovery. Students were also trained in basic terminology and human anatomy. Mrs. Carol Lettsome was this groups high school teacher. This group wore white.       
 

3. Hotel Occupation was also a 2 year program that prepared its members for work in the Hotel industry. Classes were taken which were specific to this field. Students learned all aspects of hotel training which extended from basic customer services, foods and beverages, and managerial skills. Black and White was this groups color of choice.
 
4. The Student Senate program was an organization that allowed Class Senators from all grade levels to represent their class. Members of this group did not take classes. However, a forum was set up to allow them to learn all the term and legal aspects of politics. Senators were assigned to each grade level. These senators spoke an made decisions on the behalf of the class. A president was also sworn in at the 12 grade level. During our senior year Trevor Nicholas was the student Senate president. This organization was chaired by Mr.David Williams. Their colors were Brown and Beige. 
 
5. The Girl's Scouts, designed to instill character, citizenship and leadership in young women. Also, it encourages self respect and team work. Members of this group also learned the cornerstones of the Scout methods. In addition to the Girl Scout troop their was also a terminology use phrased as the Parrot Gang that included male members as well. Mrs.Bettye Parrot was this group leader. This group were green.
 
6. The J.R.O.T.C, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp, helps students with leadership development. Their mission is to build better citizens for America. This group organization was headed by Sergent First Class Godfrey Fredericks and Colonel Gordon Green. Their colors were Light Green top and Dark Green bottom.
 
7. The Year Book Club was responsible for creating and design our senior year book. Mr.Kenny Todman was the Year book committee teacher. He aided these group of classmates in preserving our memories.This was also done as a class.
 
8. The National Honor Society was a group that invited you to be a member based on academic achievement and leadership service. Recognizing outstanding student in scholarship and leadership. The NHS was founded in 1912.
Their colors were Gold and White.This group leader was Irose Payne.
 
9. Future Homemakers of America was a group of students interested in an advance form of Home  Economics. They volunteered at community establishments such as Lucinda Millin Home. Students would interact with the Senior Citizens. Often this was done during special holidays; spreading love, companionship, and good cheer. Their colors were Red and White. In July1999, at national conference in  Boston MA this group's name was formerly changed to Family,Career and Community Leadership of America.Their symbol was the red rose which represents beauty. Mrs.Dorothy Nesbitt was this group high school director.
 
10. Industrial Arts were a set of trade grouped together but not limited to skilled labor.This included the Masonry ,Carpentry's, Electrician and Arts and craft division.
Some of these student also interned at local business that pertained to their respected fields.Some members also aided in building an addition to the Industrial Arts Division Dept.
